Motorbike Registration In Upper East Region - Part 2

I returned to the DVLA office again at around 10:05 a.m. to meet a very busy office. I quickly asked for the first step from people around and kick-started the process immediately.

When I entered the main office, I was asked to join a queue and pay my registration fee of GHȻ 90.00 each for motorbike registration. Some people who thought it was less than that amount were asked to go back and come at a later date. After paying that amount, I was given some documents and a DVLA sticker to take to some other officials manning a desk, for my registration number. I was later asked to see the Vehicle Inspection Officer for inspection of my motorbike. I went to him, but he was so busy that he never inspected my bike. I was then asked to go and photocopy some documents from a small kiosk, and take my embossed number plate from the place.

Guess what? The number plate was not free. I was asked to pay an extra GHȻ 8.00 although I had paid for it in the official documents (which all added up to make the GHȻ 90.00 I paid earlier). I was then asked to see the Vehicle Inspection officer for the finalization of the registration process. He collected GHȻ 5.00 again from me before handing over my documents to me finally.

In fact, it was a hectic process involving the payment of money at every point and desk. But it was worth the time because I will at least be freed from police harassment and frustration. Next time you plan going to register your vehicle, be it car or motorbike or farm truck, you must ask before you venture there because things can go up within the twinkle of an eye.

I hope you are now privy to on-going events at the DVLA and CEPS offices. And I hope this was a good read to you.

Notes: THERE MAY BE SLIGHT VARIATIONS IN THE PROCEDURE FOR REGISTERING CARS AND MARKET TRUCKS BUT THEY WILL NOT BE MUCH DIFFERENT.
