But have we ever sat down to really ask ourselves if Fulani men can muster such courage to rob natives?
And why do we think our own people cannot dress the way Fulani men dress to commit such crimes and escape arrest? If the Ghana Police with all their training in criminal matters can simply conclude that these men are Fulani without any sort of investigation to confirm or deny the suspicion, what would the ordinary person on the street say then? If people who are trained to do this job are sitting down unconcerned and unwilling to do their job, what do you expect of the ordinary man who tries to report these things to the police?
Are Fulani herdsmen behind the recent spate of armed robberies in Buluk? |
When the natives came after them, the criminal ran for his life and the policeman was nearly lynched by the community members.
When members of the community came and reported the incident to the police, all they did to this disgraced policeman was to transfer him to another village.

There was another occasion whereby a policeman, who is supposed to protect people's property, was caught stealing someone's cow in broad daylight. Instead of this man to have been punished for tarnishing the image of the police service, he was merely transferred to another town to avoid embarrassment.
With all these incidents and the apparent lack of will to fight armed robbery in the community, one cannot help but come to the conclusion that there are some policemen in the service who are abating crime in our community.
These acts by the police have made the reporting of crime a useless venture since, according to some residents, one cannot report an armed robber to the gang leader.
